Sardinia and Corsica

France and Italy in the Mediterranean, uniquely different!

MSL Tours are pleased to announce a return to Corsica; it’s a destination that proved very popular in the past on numerous occasions, now with the addition of Sardinia! We start at Dover, meeting to board our early morning ferry to Calais, once in France we will make quick progress to our (B&B) overnight transit hotel in Dijon.  On Day Two we journey further south towards Grenoble where the roads become livelier for the bikes, following the iconic, and given our destination, the aptly named N-85 ‘Route de Napoleon’, as we head towards our quality, biker friendly (half board) hotel.

We will be located in the Hautes-Alpes, in the heart of the beautiful Dévoluy Massif for the night, surrounded by forest and meadows with mountainous views. The hotel boasts a sauna; spa and indoor swimming pool combined with family run hospitality and locally sourced produce on the traditional French menu. An early start on Day Three will give us an opportunity to enjoy the fabulous routes and incredible views of the Gorges of Verdon as we ride south towards Toulon and our overnight crossing with Corsica Ferries to Corsica.

Our morning arrival on Day Four in Bastia gives us the opportunity for a lively full day’s south bound ride to Porto Vecchio, along the full length of the east coast of the island; on arrival we’ll take a short late evening ferry crossing over to Sardinia, arriving in Porto Torres. Our first (half board) Tour hotel on the island is a tranquil, quality four star country spa resort with swimming pool and locally prepared cuisine, situated in the rural village of Aritzo in the centre of the island and the heart of the Gennargentu National Park. We will be in these fabulous surroundings for three nights, with the opportunity for two full ride out days. Day Seven is a short move south west to the town of Sardara, not far from the west coast of the island, for a four night (half board) stay, our hotel presenting quality, traditional Sardinian cuisine. With two large thermal swimming pools and use of the spa the perfect place then to relax after a further three more exciting days riding some fabulous Sardinian roads!

On Day Eleven the Tour departs Sardinia and heads north for our early morning return ferry crossing from Porto Torres back to Porto Vecchio.  Once in Corsica we will have the opportunity for another full days ride north, exploring this time the western side of the island, as we head towards Bastia for our overnight ferry back to mainland France. However before the boat we will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the ambience and food at the many harbour side restaurants in historic and picturesque Saint-Florent, including La Marinuccia, with its panoramic sea view terrace situated under the walls of the old Genoese Citadel.

Taking the overnight ferry from Bastia back to Toulon means an early arrival on Day Twelve so we will have plenty of time to once again to enjoy the amazing roads in this region of France as we return to our (half board) hotel in the Hautes –Alpes. Our final night on Day Thirteen at our (B&B) transit hotel in Dijon is a well-deserved rest before  the Tour heads back to Calais on Day Fourteen, to catch our late afternoon crossing back to Dover; reflecting on our experiences of the uniquely different and exciting islands of Corsica and Sardinia!
