The Ardeche Gorge
22nd-28th September
• BACK AGAIN BY POPULAR DEMAND
• accompanied by Rex and Gill MSL tour guides
• magical parts of France
• great locations
• will suit experienced riders and passengers
This is a tour that will suit people who enjoy quiet locations and natural surroundings.
After a calm ferry crossing the tour overnights in the Champagne region before continuing the next morning to our hotel in Beaune set amongst the intoxicating vineyards of Burgundy.
Using a blend of autoroute and mainly quiet ‘D’ roads we weave our way though the scenic countryside to our friendly riverside hotel where we have secured a superb four night package. With the bikes free of luggage you are able to construct your own itineraries. The choice is endless. I first did the descent of the Ardeche more than a decade ago and since then it’s almost become a summer ritual. Canoe centres give a safety lecture and for those new to the activity a lesson in canoeing. The Ardeche is amateur by comparison and the rapids paltry by pro standards but what makes the blood rushing, heart pounding fodder is that it’s you and the boat alone and you have to drive it.
However if you don’t want to get wet the roads around the gorge are sensational. Take the D920 from Vallon-Pont-d’Arc to Pont St Esprit; thirty-two miles across the High Corniche, it will have you and the bike gasping.
For something different our hotel, in the Ardeche, is set in an enchanting medieval village for lazy walks or you can just chill out by the hotels covered swimming pool before the evening meal, which includes local wine.
We return at the end of the tour to Avallon.

What they said about us…
Hotels have never disappointed. Suggested routes are invaluable. No requirement to ride in convoy unless you wish to. I like to vary my route occasionally as long as I am there for dinner! Dave |
